Abstract

Translasi representasi merupakan proses kognitif dalam mengubah informasi yang disajikan dalam suatu bentuk representasi (sumber) ke bentuk representasi lain (target). Kemampuan siswa dalam melakukan translasi representasi merupakan kemampuan mendasar yang harus dimiliki untuk membangun suatu konsep dan berpikir matematis. Terkait pentingnya kemampuan translasi representasi bagi siswa, penelitian kualitatif ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan translasi representasi matematis verbal ke grafikpada materi fungsi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIIIE MTs Surya Buana. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan tes dan wawancara setelah siswa menyelesaikan tes yang diberikan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara umum siswa telah melakukan translasi representasi verbal ke grafik namun belum tepat.Kemampuan translasi representasi matematis verbal ke grafik siswa masih sangat kurang. Siswa masih banyak mengalami kesulitan dalam melakukan translasi dari representasi verbal ke grafik karena kurangnya pemahaman siswa terkait masalah verbal danterbatasnya pengalaman siswa terkait translasi representasi fungsi.
